Code of Conduct

Preamble Fables & Flames – Romantasy Gala is designed to create a welcoming and inclusive environment for all attendees, authors, vendors, volunteers, and staff. This code of conduct exists to ensure that everyone can enjoy and participate in the event free from discrimination, harassment, or any form of inappropriate behavior. By attending this event, all participants agree to abide by this code of conduct.

When engaging with others, please consider the following:

• Ask first. Before initiating physical contact, taking photographs, or engaging in potentially sensitive discussions, seek consent.
• Respect cultural differences. Attendees come from diverse backgrounds, and what may seem acceptable to one person could be misunderstood by another.

Principles Adventure Awaits Events is committed to fostering a safe and respectful atmosphere. To achieve this, we expect all participants to adhere to the following principles:

• Treat everyone with respect and kindness, regardless of gender, race, ethnicity, religion, age, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, neurodiversity, physical appearance, body size, or physical/mental disability.
• Harassment of any kind will not be tolerated.
• Disruptive behavior that interferes with the enjoyment of others will not be permitted.

Prohibited Behaviors The following actions are examples of behaviors that may result in immediate removal from the event and other consequences:

1. Harassment or Discrimination: Verbal, physical, or visual harassment, including but not limited to:
   • Intimidation, stalking, or following
   • Derogatory comments or slurs
   • Non-consensual physical contact
   • Inappropriate sexual comments or advances
   • Deliberate misgendering or use of deadnames
2. Inappropriate Content:
   • Display of offensive or sexually explicit materials in public spaces
   • Costumes or attire that promote hate symbols or messages
3. Nudity and Indecent Exposure:
   • Nudity or indecent exposure in costumes or otherwise is strictly prohibited. Minnesota Statute 617.23 regarding indecent exposure is in effect for this event. For more information, please refer to MN Statute 617.23.
4. Disruptive Actions:
   • Interrupting panels, presentations, or activities
   • Using amplified sound without prior approval
5. Weapons and Dangerous Items: Unless pre-approved for cosplay purposes, weapons or items that could harm others are strictly prohibited.

Reporting Process If you experience or witness any inappropriate behavior, you are encouraged to report it promptly. You can report incidents by:

• Approaching designated event staff or security personnel
• Sending an email to Rachel@AdventureAwaitsEvents.com 

What to Expect When Reporting:

• Event staff will handle all reports with professionalism, empathy, and discretion.
• Your identity and personal information will remain confidential, shared only with those necessary to address the situation.
• You will be informed about the steps being taken and offered support resources as needed.

Consequences of Violations Violations of this code of conduct may result in:

• Verbal or written warnings
• Immediate removal from the event without refund
• Ban from future Adventure Awaits events
• Notification to local law enforcement, if necessary
