Over 20 years ago, Briana Lawrence and Jessica Walsh (also known as Sewn Together Reflections) were two fanfiction writing ladies who geeked out over Gundam Wing boys and Resident Evil. Now? They’re married geeks who write books, wear nerdy outfits, and do their best to keep their cats in line.
Briana is the Senior Features Editor for Crunchyroll News and an author with a number of releases. There’s her award-winning middle-grade book series, “In Search of Superpowers: A Fantasy Pin World Adventure,” her “Essential Manga Guide: 50 Series Every Manga Fan Should Know,” and her love letter to “Sailor Moon” with her magical girl series “magnifiqueNOIR.” Meanwhile, you may have heard stories from Jessica’s horror anthology “Little Creepers” on podcasts like Ghoul Intentions and Mr. Creepy Pasta, and she just released her gay fantasy romance “Ironbound Kisses.” She also runs the blog “Well, Are They?,” a review site that covers queer media and is home to the couple’s Queer Manga Book Club. When she’s not writing, you can catch her (potentially swearing) at her sewing machine.
When going to conventions and events, Briana and Jessica always bring their best. You can get lost in their books or their ongoing conversations about anime, ships, and video games. Use caution, because if you start a conversation about “Hades II,” “Gachiakuta,” or the criminally underrated “Kids on the Slope,” they may not let you leave!
